This year as well, the city of Subotica will host the internationally and regionally acclaimed festival of contemporary theatre and performing arts — Desiré Central Station. Thanks to its carefully curated programme, audiences will have the opportunity to enjoy captivating works of contemporary theatre and dance theatre, recognized on both the European and international scenes. The festival is tailored to a wide range of visitors: performances in Serbian are subtitled in Hungarian, while Hungarian and other foreign-language productions are subtitled in Serbian. The festival’s repertoire features prominent works of musical, dance, and physical theatre. Many productions transcend strict genre definitions, blending elements of modern circus, puppet theatre, and visual arts. In addition to its main programme, the festival also offers a variety of accompanying events — theatre workshops, professional discussions, and the Desiré Academy, which gives audiences the opportunity to engage directly with distinguished theatre artists.
