The International Festival of Arad Musical Autumn
We are preparing to welcome the most spectacular manifestation of autumn, the festival that we dedicate to the season, music and its performers! The International Festival of Arad Musical Autumn returns this year with a collection of events dedicated to the most representative genres of classical music, symphonic or vocal symphonic masterpieces, creations for organ, piano, or voice and classical guitar.
We are in the year 2025, „International Year – Johann Sebastian Bach, Maurice Ravel, George Enescu, Béla Bartók”, and the universality of these overwhelming personalities defines the very special theme of this edition!
We are waiting for you in six festival evenings, arranged in a comfortable time interval, between October 30 and November 13, 2025! Evenings that urge you to detach yourself from everyday life, to come and enjoy the enveloping world of sounds, harmonies and refreshing colors.
Tuesday, November 4, 2025 at 7:00 PM, Cultural Palace Hall ENESCOOL
Organ Recital – EDUARD ANTAL
Organ transcriptions from the creation of George Enescu, the Parisian environment (Gabriel Fauré, Maurice Ravel, Claude Debussy) and Dinu Lipatti
How spectacular can the organ version of a Rhapsody by George Enescu be? With how much subtlety and elegance can the orchestral music of Gabriel Fauré, who was Enescu’s mentor during his years of study in Paris, be played through the registers of the same instrument? How much color does the music of Maurice Ravel, who grew up in the same composition class, in the same Parisian academic environment, add to the sound fabric of this Parisian painting?
How much skill is needed to recreate in the sound universe of the organ the original effects of the „Sunken Cathedral”, the famous prelude for piano by the great impressionist composer, Claude Debussy? How to imprint in the „soul” of the great instrument the candor and delicacy of one of the most wonderful piano nocturnes of the 20th century, the one in F sharp minor, by Dinu Lipatti?
Eduard Antal’s recital has the gift of dispelling thoughts and perplexities, of providing answers to curiosities.
Wednesday, November 5, 2025 at 7:00 PM, Cultural Palace – Small Concert Hall ARIA AND ECHO
CRISTINA FIERARU – soprano
MAXIM BELCIUG – guitar
The most beautiful arias and songs from the lyrical repertoire, from baroque to romance and Neapolitan cantoneta
Henry Purcell, Claudio Monteverdi, Giulio Caccini, Georg Friedrich Händel, Adrian le Roy, Federico Garcia Lorca, Guilelm Șorban, Eduardo di Capua
A program like a temple, which gathers in it some of the most precious fragrances of the lyrical baroque and other eclectic gems from the universe of classical singing, interpreted by soprano Cristina Fieraru, one of the brightest voices on our young stage, accompanied by the guitarist of Delights, Maxim Belciug.
Pages from the creation of composers such as Antonio Caldara, Giovanbatista da Gagliano, Giacomo Carissimi, Giulio Caccini, Giovanni Battista Pergolesi, Henry Purcell or Georg Friedrich Händel intertwine with the sung poems of Federico Garcia Lorca, or with a Neapolitan song, to then calm down in a melancholic walk past the unpaired poplars. An experience that will delight both the ears of fine connoisseurs and the most novice of the audience of other genres.
Thursday, November 6, 2025, 7:00 p.m., Cultural Palace Hall BACH – MUSICA ANGELORUM
Conductor: CRISTIAN NEAGU
Soloists: RENATA GEBE FÜGI soprano, MELINDA SAMSON soprano, MIHAELA IȘPAN mezzo-soprano, NICOLAE SIMONOV tenor, CRISTIAN HODREA bass
Conductor: choir ROBERT DANIEL RĂDOIAȘ Program:
Johann Sebastian Bach Suite No. 1 for orchestra BWV 1066 Johannes Brahms Song of Songs, op.89
Johann Sebastian Bach Magnificat BWV 243
Magnificat, the most popular of Johann Sebastian Bach’s vocal works, is the starting point and inspiration for this mid-evening of the festival, an evening dedicated to the memory of one of the most profound, creative and influential composers in the history of universal music, who continues to inspire and conquer audiences and musicians centuries later.
Magnificat, Mary’s song of joy and gratitude, contained in the Gospel of Luke, leaves its mark on the homage we pay to Johann Sebastian Bach, 275 years after his departure into eternity. Performed alongside a cast trained and accustomed to the rigor and precision of the Baroque repertoire – Renata Gebe Fügi soprano, Melinda Samson soprano, Mihaela Ișpan mezzo-soprano, Nicolae Simonov tenor, Cristian Hodrea bass, Magnificat is accompanied by Suite No. 1 for orchestra BWV1066, one of the few examples of Bach’s instrumental music that has survived to this day, but also by a masterpiece with a philosophical content of a universal character, placed at the antipode of: Song of the Fates, of the Goddesses of Destiny, Johannes Brahms’ last choral work.

George Enescu Romanian Poem op.1
Béla Bartók Two Portraits for Orchestra, op. 5 Sz. 37 Béla Bartók Concerto for Orchestra Sz. 116, BB 123
Event realized in collaboration with the Szeged Symphonic Orchestra
They materialized their aspirations in the most unsuspected forms of creation, discovered the most refined expressions of authenticity and embraced in scholarly forms the universe of the classics, the modernity of the world in which they lived, but above all, the purity and unparalleled richness of the popular ethos. „Enescu – Bartók, an absolute friendship” is a tribute to the great musicians of the 20th century, on the 70th and 80th anniversary of their passing, respectively, a royal event that concludes this year’s edition of the Arad Musical Autumn International Festival. We invite you this evening to a completely unique musical experience, with works that fascinate through their descriptive power, through the emotions they generate and the depths they reach. The Romanian poem op.1 by George Enescu, the Two portraits for orchestra, op. 5 Sz. 37 and the Concerto for orchestra Sz. 116, BB 123 by Béla Bartók are the highest expressions of this eulogy, which we bring together with the members of the Szeged Symphonic Orchestra, conductor Sándor Gyudi and violinist and concertmaster István Kosztándi.
